New Adventures…
This past year has been pretty crazy and has led me on many different ventures. The most recent is a step into the world of video. I am not foolish enough to think that one can simply buy nice equipment and be amazing at something. I know how that works out for people in the photography industry. Having said that, I was recently awarded a project that has kind of thrusted me into this new world. First things first, I need practice! I know that shooting a wedding seems like it might not be that tough, but those of us who do it, know that there are so many little things that happen during a day that may throw you off. You have to be experienced and know how to handle certain situations. Well, this past Sunday, I thought I would do a little miniature project. This project was a way for me to test myself and to learn what I can do better. Let’s equate it to a mock engagement shoot, or something of the sort.
Anyways, here is my brother, Dustin. He is a cyclist and enjoys riding in his skin tight tights. This was shot in a couple of hours and edited in even less time. Obviously this is rough and it is kind of a rough edit, but it was a GREAT learning experience and I look forward to taking on this bigger project!
I’m just going to post a link to the video rather than embedding it. I’m sure there is a way, but it won’t let me post the HD version here, so…

And be sure to click the little “HD” symbol at the bottom right of the video.
Back in the Game!
Well look who decided to show up! I realize that it has been quite a while since I have posted on my blog. Towards the end of last year, I decided it was time to take an extended break from photography. A lot of people, including myself, have questioned my decision to put my photography business on hold, but at the end of the day, I have always been a photographer for the ART FIRST. When I felt like it was becoming more of a job for me, rather than an art, I knew it was time to take a break. I wanted to get back to the same place I was at when I first began shooting. This quote says it all:
“Once the amateur’s naive approach and humble willingness to learn
fades away, the creative spirit of good photography dies with it.
Every professional should remain always in his heart an amateur.”
– Alfred Eisenstaedt
So, it is time to have an amateurs heart again. It is time for me to start shooting again, but this time, I am going to do things a little different. Before, I ONLY shot weddings and referred everything else to other photographers. Now, I want to take on a variety of jobs. I want to allow myself to shoot a variety of things and experience different types of photography. So, shoot me an email and lets see what we can do!
Here are some family portraits I did last year for some friends. The Blackfords are one of the only families that I have shot since I have been shooting professionally.
Before I sign off, I figured I would post a couple of pictures of my kids. For those of you have haven’t seen them in a while…

News and Mallory Updates
Do you want the good news or bad news first? If you are like me, you chose the bad news in hopes that the good news would make it better. Either way, there really is no bad news, so I will give you the good news first and then follow that up with some pictures.
Melanie and I are expecting our second child! *cue the girl screaming “YAYY…Oh Em Gee!”*. Well, hopefully you are screaming “Yay” because this is definitely super exciting for us. The new baby (don’t know the sex, yet) is due in late April. April 25th, to be exact. My birthday to be more exact. Cue the *”oh no, if the baby is born on his birthday, he will never have a birthday AGAIN!”*. If that is indeed the case, I am completely ok with that. Quite honestly, I usually forget about my birthday, anyways. I think it would be kind of cool to share a special day with one of my children.
ANYWAYS…here is our child’s first portrait…
In other news, Mallory is growing so fast. Here are a few recent pics…

Also, she was really cute for Halloween. We thought so, at least.

Mallory 6 Month
I realized that I haven’t showed any updated photos of Mallory in a while, so I figured I would post a few for those that are interested.
This last one is Mallory in a traditional Afghani outfit. As many of you know, my mom works in Afghanistan. Her local co-workers wanted to see Mallory in this outfit, so they sent it back with my mom. Although they sent back outfits for my brother and I to wear as well, you don’t be seeing those on this blog. haha.
